Announcing Release 8.1 of Trade Wars Helper Trade Wars Helper has been made an even more powerful tool for the new TW2002 version 2 wide beta release and is still fully compatable with version 1.03. Besides the major enhancements disususssed below and other improvements discussed in the README file, additional changes have been made for the Major BBS version of Trade Wars. The Universe Mapping feature has been updated using new version 2.00 capability with a very cost effective, although potentially long running, routine to map the universe using Ether Probes. Depending on the universe generated and the speed of the BBS computer, it is now possible to use a single batch of 25 Ether Probes to explore up to 1000 sectors in approximatly one and a half hours! On a slow computer and different game setup, the same 25 probes might explore 500 sectors in four hours. Still cost effective but really boring! If you thought playing evil was was no longer advantageous, get TWHELP! With Trade Wars Helper you can cross steal between paired ports using normal movement or the Transporter. The paired ports can be where two products are involved or where you steal the same product from both. And the trading algrothim with the psychic probe has been enhanced to get the five experience points per sell from each port whenever possible! It now also gets two experience points when trading almost every time! The rob command has been updated to rob between paired ports also using normal movement, the TransWarp Drive or Transporting. And not only does TWHelper keep track of ports where you've been busted and the number of days since last robbed, it keeps track of ports that have been drained of credits and it notifies you of ports that are good candidates for robbing! Also the commands that automatically scan, move, trade and/or deploy fighters along the way can now also steal and rob at the appropriate ports including robbing after buying! What an advantage these and many of the other Trade Wars Helper commands give you. And the specialized paired ports command, which located stealing pairs in the prior release, has been expanded to locate robbing pairs, optionally using a product percentage criteria during the search. This latest release is named TWHELP81.ZIP and can be downloaded on the first call from Monty's Place BBS (801) 944-8636 or Rocky Mountain Software (801) 963-8720 and logging on as "Just Fun" with a password of "Software". The file size is 300K and 14,400 bps capability is available. This archive now contains the program module for a 5000 sector universe. A Small Universe version is in a separate zip file named TWHSU81.ZIP. Its file size is 175K and is functionally equivalent to the standard version, run about 20-25% faster and requires sightly less memory but can only handle a TW universe of up to 3000 sectors. It does require modules from the standard zip file to operate. Thus if you have a 386 or faster machine, just download TWHELP81.ZIP. Otherwise get both zip files. Registration keys for release 7.0 and above work for release 8.1. Be sure to erase twhelplu.exe, readmelu.txt and twhlu.bat immediatly after installing release 8.1 to avoid confusion. Trade Wars Helper is a players TERMINAL PROGRAM that maintains an ONLINE DATABASE of sectors with their port, warp to, and other information. Several commands are available to utilize this information in addition to AUTOMATING most of the repetitive processes and a GRAPHICS MAP display. Trade Wars Helper - Don't leave FedSpace without it!
